Hi Meg!

I attended your session in Holland, MI earlier this week. It was great, and I am now "testing the waters" on this blogging concept.

You pose an interesting question--"In the classroom, how can you see blogs used." First, I should add that I teach at the post-secondary level. I can see blogging used as a tool similar to keeping a "traditional" journal. We know that to improve one's writing skills, one has to "practice" writing. Writing is a skill that develops over time. By writing regularly, whether in a journal or on-line, one can experiment with different writing styles. The novelty of posting one's writing on-line may provide the impetus to write more frequently, at least until the novelty wears off. I do question whether one would be as eager to "try new things" when the "whole world" can see the efforts.

I'm going to keep an open mind as to the benefits of this medium. I will check back often to see how other educators may respond to this question.
